Count Me In!

I only got to attend the last 2 sessions (Understanding and Owning Your Genetic Identity; and the Closing) on Saturday but they both were informative and encouraging and have convinced me to purchase an AA DNA testing kit. For decades, I was leary of doing this, especially with non-Black owned companies before AA starrwd, but this RWYA webinar has won me over to follow-through with AA. This is right on time, too because once again, my family wants to map our family tree; it's been at least 20+ years since we last did this; we'd stopped at my maternal great-great grandmother. The comparing and contrasting of AfricanAncestry.com with other DNA testing companies by AA's founders gave me the reassurance needed to proceed with getting tested by AA. Also, the sister's ancestry reveal during the closing session stirred up my lifelong desire to learn what part of Africa I hail from (I attended elementary school with a girl named Adebimpe Adeyime over 50 years again who first sparked my interest. She was from Coite De'voire). I will at least learn about the African origins of my mom's side of the family. Hopefully I can convince one of my brothers to get the paternal test so we can also know the African origins of my dad's side of the family. I'm excited!
