Hello,
I had the opportunity to meet Gina in Ghana March of 2019. We were at the same resort. I was so excited to meet her and couldn’t wait to find out my ancestry.
The company was very professional and thorough. I can’t wait to give this gift to my dad and husband.
If you are of black decent, African Ancestry is really the only choice you can make to find out and understand where you come from simply because they have the largest number of DNA samples for the black race.
I was told my roots were from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria, particularly from the region called Ijebu. My father has always been proud of these roots that were told to him. In searching to find out who I am and after taking genetics test that some of the results were inconsistent with what I know of the people from Ijebu and the Yoruba tribe I decided to contact African Ancestry and decided to do both the Matriclan and the Patriclan tests.
I was extremely surprised when I received the results of the Matriclan test. I discovered that on my Father's side (father to father to father etc.), again was not the Yoruba tribe or even any tribe from what is known as Nigeria. The results came back that my ancestry originates 3 tribes from Gabon (two countries away from Nigeria).
Understanding the migration of Africans all over Africa for centuries, it made sense, especially as on my father's side they really do not look like the typical Yoruba Tribe person (if there is such a thing as a typical look). Many had told me that when I visited Nigeria that my father nor I looked like a Yoruba person, which I found strange thing to say as what does a Yoruba person look like.
Anyway, it has been a great journey of exploration which has answered some questions that were probably not…
I am so glad to have found this product. It helped me so much in discovering who I am and where I came from. Thank you.
